Supervision for the work, and for the clinician doing it.
CLINICAL SUPERVISION
Two clients in the room.
Supervision, as I practice it, attends to two clients at once — the clinical work being brought, and the clinician bringing it. Both matter. Neither is reducible to the other. A supervisee who is being managed rather than supervised will produce competent surface work but will not deepen as a clinician. A supervisee whose own process is treated as the work, with the client's case as material, will deepen — and will hold their clients better as a result.
The frame draws on the same Quiet Work orientation that runs through the rest of the practice. We work with what sits beneath the presenting case: the supervisee's shame, rescue impulses, performance anxiety, fear of getting it wrong, over-identification, the desire to be seen as helpful. The hidden work of being a therapist is also quiet work. Supervision is where that work is given attention.
This is rigorous supervision, not therapy for the supervisee. The distinction is held carefully. But the clinician's process is not bracketed out of the room — it is named, attended to, and made workable.

WHAT THE SUPERVISION CONTAINS
The clinical and professional architecture.
Supervision is offered to qualified BABCP-accredited CBT therapists and BABCP trainees on accredited courses. Sessions are 60 minutes, online via secure video. Frequency is decided based on the supervisee's training context and caseload — usually monthly for qualified therapists, fortnightly for trainees, with flexibility for case complexity. All supervision relationships begin with a 30-minute consultation, no charge, to talk through your training context, current cases, and what you're looking for from supervision. Where there is good fit, we contract formally before sessions begin.
The shape of the work.
Two clients, one frame
The client's process and the clinician's process held in the same room. Neither bracketed off. Neither performed.
The hidden work
Shame, rescue impulses, fear of getting it wrong, the desire to be seen as helpful — the hidden architecture of being a therapist, treated as material rather than weakness.
Cultural fluency
Identity, racialised experience, and cultural context held as clinical material — not as additional load on the supervisee, and not as performance.
Pluralism in practice
Held by a supervisor in doctoral training in counselling psychology, working integratively across CBT, schema, CFT, ACT, and humanistic-existential traditions.
