The work beneath the presentation.
WHAT THE WORK INVOLVES
Working at depth, across the range.
The work spans the breadth of psychological distress — anxiety, low mood, trauma, burnout, relational difficulty, identity conflict, grief, shame, perfectionism. What is consistent is not the issue. It is the orientation: working with what sits beneath the presenting concern, not only the surface of it. Working slowly enough that change happens at the level of nervous system and selfhood, not only of behaviour. Some clients arrive with a discrete concern they want focused work on. Others with something they have been carrying for a long time and have never been able to set down. Both are welcome. Both are real work.

Integrative Psychotherapy
Open-ended, depth-oriented psychotherapy — calibrated to the person, not the framework. The work draws across cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy, compassion-focused therapy, ACT, and humanistic and existential traditions. What determines which frame is used is not the clinician's preference but what each client's presentation, history, culture, and nervous system actually needs. Available online across the UK, or in person in Milton Keynes. Through both Private Practice (Ltd) and Community CIC. What this looks like in practice:
-
One-to-one sessions — 50 minutes, weekly or fortnightly
-
Integrative formulation — understanding the deeper patterns beneath the presenting concern, not only the surface of it
-
Work across anxiety, low mood, burnout, shame, perfectionism, relational difficulty, identity conflict, grief, and more
-
Online via secure video, accessible across the UK — or in person at the Milton Keynes practice
-
Available through Private Practice (Ltd) for clients resourcing the work privately
-
Available through Community CIC for clients for whom private fees are inaccessible
-
Sessions are 50 minutes. They are not directive — I do not arrive with an agenda I impose on the work. The session begins where the client begins: what came up in the week, what has been sitting with them, what they could not quite name until now. The work moves at the pace the nervous system can hold, which is sometimes slower than the thinking part of you would like. That slowness is not an absence of progress — it is how the change is made.
-
Online sessions are delivered via a secure video platform accessible on any device. In-person sessions are available at the Milton Keynes practice — the same clinical work in a physically held room. The format is decided together at the initial consultation, based on access, preference, and what the work requires.
-
Frequency is also decided together: fortnightly allows for integration time between sessions. Weekly — the Clinical Commitment Package — allows for sustained, continuous holding of deeper work. There is no fixed timeline — some clients work with me for a few months on a specific concern; others over years on something deeper.

-
Integrative psychotherapy is available through both arms of the practice.
-
Private Practice (Ltd): For clients resourcing the work privately. Fees are shared at the initial consultation, not listed on the page — pricing belongs in conversation, where format and frequency can be decided together.
-
Community CIC: For clients for whom standard private fees are inaccessible. Enquire via the access form on the Community Therapy page — no means-testing, no proof required.
-
The next step for both routes is a short initial consultation: 30 minutes, no charge, online or by phone. We talk through what's bringing you to therapy and whether the work I do is the right shape for what you need.
-

Aim: help you feel safe enough not to perform in therapy. Focus: the therapeutic alliance, emotional safety, understanding protective performance, reducing shame, naming the external orientation.
01.
Safety & de-performance
Aim: help you access feelings, needs, values, and beliefs beneath performance. Focus: emotional awareness, schema mapping, inner-voice differentiation, formulation.
02.
Internal contact
Aim: help you practise internally aligned action. Focus: boundaries, rest, communication, values-based choices, tolerating being misunderstood, reducing over-explaining.
03.
Quiet behavioural shifts
Aim: help you consolidate a self not built around performance. Focus: relapse prevention, self-trust, identity work, future triggers, sustainable quiet living.
04.
Integration & identity
The phases are not strict. Clients move between them, and many issues require revisiting earlier phases later in the work. The shape is held loosely — the work is calibrated to the person, not to the model.
Initial Consultation
A short conversation to understand what's bringing you to therapy and whether the work I do fits what you need. No commitment, no pressure
Ongoing Sessions
Weekly or fortnightly therapy, online or in person, at the depth and pace your nervous system can hold. The work moves slowly — that slowness is part of the care, not an absence of it.
Endings
Endings are themselves part of the therapy. When it is time to close, we do so intentionally — not abruptly, not endlessly, but with the same care that brought you into the work.

Frequently Asked Questions
The next step is a short consultation — 30 minutes, no charge, online. We talk through what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and whether the work I do is the right shape for what you need. There is no pressure to commit in the consultation itself.
Sessions are 50 minutes, delivered via secure video. They are not directive — I do not arrive with an agenda I impose. The work moves at the pace your nervous system can hold, which sometimes means slower than the surface part of you would like. That slowness is part of the care.
There is no fixed timeline. Some clients work with me for 3–6 months on a focused concern; others over a year or more on something deeper. The length is decided together, based on what the work actually requires — not on a package or a programme.
The practice is integrative and works across anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relational difficulty, identity conflict, grief, shame, perfectionism, and most other presentations. If you're not sure whether what you're carrying is a fit, the consultation is the place to find out. I will say honestly if my modality and approach are not the right fit for what you need.
The clinical work is the same. The access route is different. The Private Practice (Ltd) is fee-paying therapy with Ange directly. The Community CIC is subsidised and trainee-delivered therapy for clients for whom standard private fees are inaccessible. Both arms are held to the same clinical standard.
Therapy is available online via secure video, accessible anywhere in the UK — and in person at the practice's Milton Keynes office. One-to-one sessions and group therapy courses are both available in person in Milton Keynes. The practice does not currently offer one-to-one in-person sessions in Birmingham — the Birmingham address is the registered business address.
Yes. I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, currently a doctoral trainee in Counselling Psychology. The practice carries professional indemnity insurance and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office for data protection
The Community CIC arm of the practice exists for exactly this. It is not a watered-down version of the work — it is the same clinical standard, made accessible through grant funding, donations, and clinically supervised placement therapists. Fill out the access enquiry form on the Community CIC page to begin.
